Job Summary and Objectives

• The company is seeking a professional to follow the day-to-day activities on site, making sure the progress is being completed according to approved drawings and approved material submitted. This is to be done in coordination with site supervisors & site engineers.
• This position will use planning, monitoring and controlling processes, to ensure completion of projects on time and according to budget by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and communicating project progress.
• The mechanical project Site Engineer follows the day to day activities on site making sure in coordination with site supervisors & site engineers. That the progress is completed according to approved drawings and approved material submittals.

General Tasks/ Job Duties

• The responsibilities of the professionals required include but not limited to the following:
• Prepare of as built drawings in coordination with draftsmen and engineering department.
• Ensure the proper execution as per the approved shop drawings.
• Explain the work methodologies to the work and supervising force to ensure that the work is done as per the requirements.
• Reporting to Project manager regarding daily progress of work and plan for the next working days.
• Informing the Project Manager regarding material status on the site and preparing the requirement for the upcoming period.
• Carry out/Supervise all relevant testing before commissioning and handing over.
• Managing the work force.
• Analyze work non-conformities and provide recommendations and guidance for resolution.
• Ensure all the equipments used in the site are properly maintained and calibrated if required.
• Inspect received material in the site and check delivery note and PO and inform Project Manager.
• Ensure that all reporting personnel follow all company policies and procedures.
• Provide support during the development of operations and maintenance manuals.
• Assist the Project Manager during the execution of the projects.
• Manage all the project trade from the planning stage to the final hand-over of the execution and project maintenance.
• Ensure that the department is adequately resourced to satisfy the technical engineering needs using both permanent and temporary resources as appropriate.
• Ensure that all contracts are adequately resources to enable projects to progress to program and within budget.
• Ensure that all technical standards, specifications, codes and procedures of the company are properly maintained and updated to reflect changes, improvements and advances in technology.
• Manage the resources and manpower of project sufficient to achieve the level of quality production required.
• Ensure that any non-conformance or queries are highlighted and implemented speedily and effectively.
• Might be assigned to handle some part of the project individually on consultation with the Project Manager.
• Negotiate with the Consultant/Client on project issues and take suitable decision.
• Mobilize of resource manpower, equipment & material as and when required for the project.

Requirements
Overall Skills:

• Plumbing: booster pumps, submersible pumps, sanitary fixtures, floor drains, area drains, drainage piping network, water supply piping network, different type of plumbing valves, heat exchangers.
• HVAC : Chillers, pumps, piping network, GI ducting, air handling units, fan coil units, fans, grills diffusers & louvers, variable air volume box, insulation, cladding, volume, smoke & fire dampers, sound attenuators, black steel hood duct, air balancing, water balancing, heating system, chemical flushing, dry coolers, humidifiers.
• Firefighting: FM200, wet sprinkler system, electrical pumps, sprinklers, fire hose cabinets, landing valves, zone control valves, piping network, alarm check valves.
• Medical gas: piping network, manifolds, outlets, area control stations, bed head units.
• Good knowledge in NFPA 13 and NFPA 20.
• Good Knowledge in Plumbing codes.
• Good Knowledge in Ashree and Smacna Standards.
• Good skills in analyzing shop drawings and material submittals in accordance to design drawings and specs.
• Ability to control the quality of site installation.
• Ability to provide advice to site team on details of installations.
• Ability to provide to PM daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Ability to follow up the works of subcontractors.
• Ability to meet and discuss technical matters with client and consultant.
• Ability to carry the commissioning of the mechanical systems installed.
• Ability to comply with QA/QC procedures.
• Ability to define the control of equipment based on the Specs and Sequence of operation.
• Ability to elaborate the method statement for installation.
• Ability to make quantity tale off for material needed.

Education Qualification

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education from a well reputed university.
• Masters/MBA preferred.

Work Experience

• Strong professional background with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a managerial position in electro-mechanical construction projects.
• Previous experience in Africa an advantage.
• Proven administrative, leadership and management ability in the area of project management, business development and/or tendering.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficient in Autocad.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Words, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in Project Planning tools.
• Must be adept in the use of Internet and E-mail.
• Fluent in English.
